Airline passenger traffic in March at Hector International Airport showed a decrease as compared to the same month in 2006. In March 2007, the passenger enplanements were 26,454. This is a decrease of 5.1% when compared to the March 2006 passenger enplanements of 27,976. Although there was a decrease in March boarding, this was the busiest first quarter ever on record at Hector International Airport with 77,085 passengers departing. A portion of the reduction in passengers is attributable to Northwest Airlines discontinuing the non-stop service to Las Vegas.
Total passenger count for the month was 54,743, which was down 3.3% over the same period last year.
In March 2007, Northwest Airlines operated eight daily flights to Minneapolis with Airbus 319/320, DC-9, and CRJ aircraft. United Express operated four daily flights to Chicago and four daily flights to Denver with the Canadair CRJ aircraft. Delta Connection operated one daily flight to Salt Lake City with the Canadair CRJ aircraft. Allegiant Air operates four-weekly flights to Las Vegas utilizing the 150-seat McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft. Delta Connection announced the reinstatement of a second Salt Lake City flight starting June 7.
Northwest Airlines had 57% of the market share, United Express at 30% Delta Connection at 4% and Allegiant Air at 9% with a daily average of 1,766 passengers both arriving and departing.
