MONTHLY STATISTICS - May 2009

Airline passenger traffic in May at Hector International Airport showed a decrease as compared to the same month in 2008.  In May 2009, the passenger enplanements were 26,443.  This is a decrease of 2.0% when compared to the May 2008 passenger enplanements of 27,252.  Total passenger count for the month was 53,147, which is down 2.2% over the same period last year.

In May 2008, Northwest Airlines operated eight daily flights to Minneapolis with Airbus A319/320, DC9, EMB-175, CRJ900 and CRJ200 aircraft.  United Express operated four daily flights to Chicago and three daily flights to Denver with the Canadair CRJ200.  Frontier Airlines operates twice-daily service to Denver utilizing the Bombardier Q400 aircraft.  Allegiant Air operates flights to Las Vegas, Phoenix/Mesa, Orlando-Sanford, Los Angeles (started May 23) utilizing the McDonnell Douglas MD-83.  Delta Air Lines will commence daily non-stop service to Salt Lake City on June 4th.

For the month of May, Northwest Airlines had 42% of the market share, United Express at 28%, Allegiant Air at 20%  and Frontier at 10% with a daily average of 1,714 passengers both arriving and departing.

There were 547 air carrier departures in the month of May.
