Welcome to Hector International Airport - Fargo, ND
After a slow construction season last year, 2012 will be very busy at Hector International Airport. On Tuesday, March 13, the Municipal Airport Authority awarded nearly $10 million worth of construction projects for the 2012 construction season.
The largest project will entail the reconstruction of runway 13/31. The current runway is 3,800' long by 150' wide and is partially concrete and asphalt. The new runway will be reconstructed with concrete at the same length but at only 75' wide. In addition, approximately 2,000' of taxiway A will be reconstructed and a connecting taxiway from taxiway C to the air cargo ramp will be added.
Northern Improvement of Fargo, ND was awarded the bid in the amount of $8,774,118. The runway/taxiway project should start in April and be completed by early November. This project will be funded jointly by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Municipal Airport Authority.
The second major contract awarded is for the construction of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility at Hector International Airport. The new facility will be located on the north general aviation ramp and will replace the current office space CBP occupies in the east terminal building on the south general aviation ramp.
The new facility project was awarded to KBW, Grant's Mechanical and Rick Electric all of Fargo for a total of $1,076,295. Construction on the new CBP facility will commence in April and should be completed later this year. The entire project is entirely funded by the Municipal Airport Authority.
Later this spring, the Municipal Airport Authority will solicit bids on parking lot expansion for the passenger terminal area. The expansion plan is to create a credit card in/out only parking area and also create additional parking areas for the car rental companies. This project will be entirely by the Municipal Airport Authority.
