Summer Airline Schedule May 7, 2004

This should clarify a news story that went out earlier this week stating that NWA will fly smaller aircraft into Fargo this summer due to the runway reconstruction project.  NWA will not operate their Airbus A319 or A320 (124 seats/150seats) aircraft until the reconstructed runway is reopened in October 2004. This is due to that type of aircraft needs a 150' wide runway to operate within FAA guidelines.  The A319/320 equipment is rotated thru the schedule frequently - there have been a number of months when the DC9-50 (124 seats) was the largest aircraft operating in the Fargo market.  Northwest will operate their DC9-30 and -50 model aircraft along with the Avro ARJ and the Saab 340.

• NWA added a 9th flight to its schedule on May 3 and will maintain this flight throughout the summer.
• United Express will maintain its current three daily flights to Chicago and three daily flights to Denver.

The current number of seats scheduled each day is as follows:

May 2004
NWA 772 seats/day scheduled
UAL 300 seats/day scheduled

Total = 1072 seats/day scheduled

• This is an increase of 66 seats per day as compared to May 2003 that had 1006 seats per day provided.

June 2004
NWA 772 seats/day scheduled
UAL 300 seats/day scheduled

Total = 1072 seats/day scheduled

• This is an increase of 6 seats per day as compared to June 2003 that had 1066 seats per day provided.

July 2004
NWA 847 seats/day scheduled
UAL 300 seats/day scheduled

Total = 1147 seats/day scheduled

• This is an increase of 58 seats per day as compared to July 2003 that had 1089 seats per day provided.

The August schedule is comparable to July. There should be ample seats available taking into consideration the peak days for events  the popular times passengers want to travel.

The hope is that there will be good visibility throughout the construction project that will alleviate any possible weather related delays due to the Instrument Landing System (ILS) being out of service during the project.
