The Municipal Airport Authority would like to summarize the completed and upcoming projects at Hector International Airport for 1999 and 2000. Q Recently completed the installation of new carpet in the passenger boarding and airport administration areas. The new carpet replaces the carpet that was originally installed in the terminal when it opened in 1986.Q Airport gift shop is under new management. Beginning Oct. 1, Sheryll and Kevin Clapp of Fargo will become the new airport gift shop managers. Expected changes include renovations and expanded/increased inventory.Q Passenger terminal was painted and park benches and planters were placed curbside.Q New passenger boarding bridge was installed and put into service on Gate 4. The new bridge will be able to accommodate all aircraft capable of serving the airport ranging in size from the Canadair Regional Jet to the Boeing 747.Q Construction projects for the year include:
Q Finalize plans to provide a precision GPS approach for runways 08 and 26.Q Demolition of buildings damaged by July 4th storm. Two hangars that were located in the south general aviation area were demolished because of the extensive damage they received from the storm that occurred. The vacant area will open up areas for further expansion in the south general aviation area.Q Assisting with the planning to construct the Fargo Air Museum that will be located in the south general aviation area along 19th Avenue.Q Assisting the Fargo Park District in planning the FM Soccer Complex located on land leased from the Municipal Airport Authority.Q Demolition/removal of the old control tower located on the east terminal should be completed in November.Upcoming
