Bids Accepted for Terminal Expansion Project

Posted September 12, 2006

Bids for the second largest ever construction project for Hector International Airport were accepted on Tuesday by the Municipal Airport Authority.  The $15.5 million passenger terminal expansion project was designed by TL Stroh Architects and Interiors of Fargo, ND.

The first phase of the project will entail a west expansion of the terminal building adding an additional boarding gate area and a baggage claim.  The terminal will also receive newer, wider escalators and a new elevator.  Once that phase is completed, the terminal will be expanded to the north adding a larger security checkpoint area and expanding the departure lounge areas for gates 2 and 3.

In addition to the expansion, the existing terminal will receive many new updates including: interior color, lighting, furniture, windows, roofing, and the overhead canopy in front of the terminal will be updated.

The terminal will still function normally during construction with a few minor inconveniences to the traveling public.

The project is scheduled to begin this fall with a late 2008 completion and is funded by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Municipal Airport Authority.
