Taxiway J Project Completed
A new taxiway project was completed with the commissioning of taxiway J (Juliet) on the west side of the air operation area. This wraps up a major construction project that began late last summer.
Taxiway J is 1,895′ long by 75′ wide and consists of 16,510 square yards of concrete. The new taxiway connects the terminal ramp to runway 09/27 and provides an alternate routing for aircraft.
This project is part of a larger taxiway A (Alpha) rehabilitation project that is scheduled to continue in 2016 if funding is secured. Taxiway A parallels the largest runway (18/36) and was partially reconstructed three years ago. This taxiway was the only route for passenger aircraft to access the terminal building prior to taxiway J being completed. During the rehabilitation project of taxiway A, aircraft will be able to access the passenger terminal ramp via the newly constructed taxiway J.
Northern Improvement of Fargo, ND was awarded the project last year for the amount of $4,734,205. This project was funded jointly by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Municipal Airport Authority.
