Barnstormer Restaurant Project Completed
The remodeling project has been completed for the Barnstormer Restaurant and Lounge in the passenger terminal at Hector International Airport. The seven month long remodeling project started in February.
The project was a reconstruction of the existing area and it was competed in three separate phases as to allow the restaurant to remain open for public use. The project goal was to update the existing restaurant, deli, and lounge with a more modern, open and inviting look. The passenger terminal opened in 1986.
The first phase was to remove the existing deli and replace it with an expanded glass and wood deli counter in a new location. The relocation of the deli allows for high public visibility, better utilization of the space and creates a better view of the mezzanine. All new floor and wall finishes and new tables and chairs were added to compliment the new deli counter. The first phase also included upgrading the existing bar to a fresh look including the use of cherry wood and patina metal – highlighted with accent lighting, frosted glass and new furnishings.
The second and third phases included the remodeling of the dining, lounge and poolroom areas. These areas were completely redone with new seating – including a quiet booth area, new tables, chairs, floor finishes and wall finishes.
The overall estimated total budget for the project was $430.00.00. The construction cost of the project made up $300.000.00 of the budget with the furniture and equipment rounding out the remainder of the cost. The project team included Foss Associates Architecture and Interior Design as the design firm for the planning, selection and specification of the interior architecture, finishes and furnishings and Minko Construction, Inc as the general contractor.
