Hector International Airport receives the Accessibility Award from Freedom Resource Center
Hector International Airport received the Accessibility Award from the Freedom Resource Center. This award recognizes organizations that are making a greater impact in our community for people with disabilities. Shawn Dobberstein, Hector International Airport’s executive director, accepted the Accessibility Award on behalf of Hector International Airport (Hector). Brandon Halverson and Hector’s terminal expansion design team, Mead & Hunt, were also recognized for creating an environment where individuals with disabilities can feel comfortable.
“We look forward to the completion of the terminal expansion project that will lead to even more accessibility for those who need it,” says Dobberstein.
The Freedom Resource Center hosted their appreciation luncheon and award ceremony to commemorate 35 years of service in Fargo. Freedom Resource Center is a disability rights organization that aims to provide services to increase independence for people with disabilities.
Anyone with a visible or nonvisible disability traveling through Hector can stop by our information center desk on the first floor to grab a Hidden Disability Sunflower lanyard or bracelet. These indicate to airport staff that the individual may need some extra time or guidance while in the airport.
