Posted July 2, 2024

Hector International Airport broke ground on its terminal expansion, parking garage and skywalk projects on July 1, 2024. With an approximate $155.9 million budget funded by local, state and federal funds, the terminal expansion and modification project will introduce four new gates, significantly enhancing the terminal experience.

This development also includes the expansion and reconstruction of the aircraft apron and the construction of a pipeline to manage aircraft deicing fluid runoff. Hector aims to complete the terminal expansion by the first quarter of 2027.

“We truly believe that this expansion will attract more opportunity for Fargo-Moorhead travelers and the region,” said Shawn Dobberstein, executive director of Hector. The new parking ramp and skyway connecting to the terminal will provide approximately 1,000 additional parking spaces with an approximate budget of $47 million. The four-story parking ramp is scheduled for completion in August 2025.

“The Municipal Airport Authority board is proud to enhance the experience for travelers in the region,” said Board Chairman Jim Kapitan. When completed, the airport will feature state-of-the-art facilities designed to accommodate their growing customer base and improve the environment for both employees and travelers.
